Phinehas – passion and zeal for God’s name. Takes immediate action upon those elements he spots contrary to Gods honour! I want to be the same with elements that casually waltz into my “camp”.
Notice as well that the two sinners in this passage were both leaders. Higher accountability and expectations for those who seek to lead.
Take delight in God and He will give you the desires of your heart. I was once taught on this passage: God will not trust you with the desires of your heart until your heart delights in Him.
This passage, along with other reading material this week, calls me to examine my heart. Out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks
Jesus heals a man dropped down from the roof by his four friends. Lots to love in this story, not least of all the faith of the friends.
What stands out to me today is the ratio, four to one. It reminds me of another saying of Jesus about multiple people agreeing in faith. Which three people will stand with me, for one person I am bringing in faith to Jesus?
